“Kellogs - Special K”

I had a voice audition today for a TV commercial for “Special K”. The director was so great: very clear directions, very positive and warm.

Union too!

And if not, I’ve given a good impression for next time.

…soooo, apparently I don’t know ANYTHING, because,

I GOT BOOKED!

“Tangents” Short Film
Frank the Rabbit Films
Role: Much Younger Woman
Shoots: Dec. 6th to 10th (I’m only needed one day)

Thanks so much Crystal Kramer from Crystal Casting for booking me for the audition, and thanks to the production team for picking me!

Tangents Audition:

I had a rather difficult audition for a Student Film this past Monday. I applied through a posting on Casting workbook. I got the sides and prepared what I wanted to do for the audition. There were no lines for my part, so I gave myself some actions to do while the other character’s lines were read over top. When I arrived at the audition, I was asked if I had prepared a monologue. I had not. So they began to leaf through A Midsummer Night’s Dream looking for a passage for me to read. Knowing how horrible reading can look on camera, I offered to do a short part of a Helena monologue that I have worked on from that play. I had totally not prepared it for that day, I hadn’t taken the time to properly refresh the lines, and I had real trouble dropping emotionally into the role at that blink of an eye, but I did my best. I performed an abridged Shakespearean monologue without ever mapping it for the camera. I hope it went over well. I asked the director if she wanted me to perform what I would do in the scene, and she said that there was no need, and that they were just looking for a presence, but that I “blew it out of the water”. I’m not sure how to take that, I’m reading into it any and every way possible and making myself sick with paranoia. I guess my lesson is just to be prepared for absolutely anything every time. Brush up on monologues from time to time to keep them fresh, and take enough time before auditions to do a proper warm up, just in case…

Wow, I hope I didn’t burn a bridge with that performance. I can only hope that I am my own worst critic.

The Universe works in mysterious ways…

Sometimes I go to an audition, perform a piece, (sides, monologue, improv, etc…) and I go away and don`t get the job. Time passes, and I don`t necessarily think at the time, “well, even if I don`t get this job, maybe they`ll think of me when casting for another job!“, but I`m starting to believe I should.

I hope everyone is happy and healthy, and please drop me a message in the contact section, let me know what type of interesting things you are all up to!

Asking the Universe:

I had a call-back today. I`m asking the universe to help me achieve my goal of booking the job. Positive thinking, visualization, opening up.

I`ll let you know how it goes!

News:

I am now represented by Jam Talent for voice over talent bookings. This is extremely exciting for me; I love this area of work and am absolutely craving doing more of it!

Also, I’ve had some great commercial auditions lately through my agent at Hubert Talent. I can’t wait to book one, fingers crossed, (I’m using the ‘universe’ for all its worth!)

More news: Stellar Productions is having an open call Sunday night for “Point of Viewing”, and after talking with the playwright Todd McGinnis, there is definitely a role I’m setting my sights on. I’ll keep you posted on that project.

Looks like the fall season is beginning to heat up, I can’t wait to get on board!

Only Five Shows Left!!!

The first two shows have gone great, with the Sunday 9pm show definitely shining over the opening night. And if that pattern persists, then it can only get better from here! I’ve posted pics from the tech rehearsal in the gallery for everyone to check out. Thanks so much to those of you who have seen the show already! I’ts so fantastic to have such supportive friends, family and colleagues, and I am so thrilled that you enjoyed yourselves!

For those of you still planning to attend, please take a minute to wait in the fringe lounge behind the box office after the show so I can say hello and thank you!

Enjoy the show everyone!

Dark City Street last few rehearsals:

Well, we have had a ridiculously productive week rehearsing for this show; we have a rehearsal every night this week. We had our fight rehearsals over the weekend with fight choreographer Dave McCormick. I learned so much, and I have to say, the fights are gonna look awesome! I’ve been practicing my slapping, and I think I’ve just about got it down. Our tech rehearsal is at the theatre in Hamilton on Thursday, and we open Saturday. A great group of people have already RSVP’d on the Facebook Event for the show, its so exciting to know that people will see this and enjoy it!

T-Minus 4 days! Can’t wait!

Voice Demo finished!

I am very excited to have my new voice demo ready for submission! I have now posted it in the “Mixed Media” section. If you have a second, I would be honored if you would listen to it, and let me know what you think using the contact section! Thanks!

I recorded the demo with Kim and Craig of Kim Hurdon Casting, and I was so happy with the entire process; they were so helpful to work with. I’m really excited to get this clip out there!

Thanks again!

and another audition!!!

Another commercial audition today for “Project Medic!” Awesome and exciting! This ball is definitely rolling in the right direction! I ran into Trevor who I worked with at Fearfest at Wonderland in the audition waiting room, and I went into the audition with Jenna who I worked with on the film “The Boulevardier” last week. Small world!

And now, to book the gigs!
